Falsos Amics (False Friends) is an application for language lovers and is learning through play. It gives the player pairs of similar words in two languages which have different meanings. These are the typical false friends that often confuse language learners. The languages used are Catalan, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian.
Player have to demonstrate that they can understand the meaning of the false friends between different Romance languages without resorting to any kind of translation aid. This is done by taking advantage of the broad possibilities for intercomprehension among Romance languages and employing strategies for understanding another language.
After five minutes of False Friends players discover that they are reading languages with ease that they had previously considered to be unknown to them and that the false friends, as if by magic, are no longer false.
